Privacy Notice
What this site collects, why, who processes it, how long it is kept, and your rights.
Who is responsible
The controller for personal information collected through this site is Vishwanath Callikan, operating The Payments Trace. For anything in this notice, contact privacy@thepaymentstrace.com.
What is collected
The site has no accounts, no newsletter, no contact form, no comments and no advertising, analytics or tracking cookies. It loads no third-party scripts, fonts or embedded content. Three things involve personal information. First, the hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, as part of operating and securing the site. Second, your colour-theme preference is stored in your own browser only and is never sent to the site. Third, if you write to the operator, whether by message on LinkedIn or to one of the mailboxes on these pages, the message and whatever you choose to put in it are received and kept as correspondence.
Why, and on what basis
Server logs are used to run and secure the site, on the basis of legitimate interests. Correspondence is used to respond to it, and where it is a correction, complaint or data-rights request, to handle that request and keep a record of how it was handled, on the same basis. Where you have asked about an engagement, your details are used to take steps at your request before any contract.
Who processes it
The site is hosted by Netlify, whose infrastructure produces the server logs described above. Netlify is based in the United States, and its handling of that data relies on the safeguards in its data-processing terms, including standard contractual clauses. Messages sent on LinkedIn are processed by LinkedIn under its own privacy policy. Email to the mailboxes on these pages is received by the operator’s mail provider. No personal information is sold or shared for marketing.
How long it is kept
Correspondence is kept for as long as needed to handle it, and no longer than 24 months after the last contact, unless an engagement follows or a legal obligation requires longer. Server logs are retained by the hosting provider for a limited period under its own retention policy and are not extracted or kept by the operator.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal information, to object to or ask for restriction of its use, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, contact privacy@thepaymentstrace.com. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
What this site does not do
No automated decision-making or profiling takes place, nothing is set in your browser beyond the theme preference you choose, and the site is not directed at children.
