Cardholders or accounts revolvingOutstanding balances bearing interest

The two columns are different units and are kept apart. The people figure counts cardholders or accounts, the money figure counts balances, and in every market the money share runs at about one and a half times the people share because a revolver owes more than a transactor. Brazil's people figure is 100 minus the 85% who told Abecs and Datafolha they paid their last bill in full. Japan has no comparable balance series, but Mann's 2002 study for the Bank of Japan found about 85% of transactions settled in one payment.
